this should be a good one

Mary Hettmansperger will be teaching at the Eureka Springs School of the Arts in September.  This should be a great class.  I met Mary fifteen plus years ago, through basketry, and have watched her fascinating career.  Her book, Fabulous Woven Jewelry is in my library.

FIBER AND WEAVING TECHNIQUES IN JEWELRY
SEPT 15-19

Mary Hettmansperger

Students will design unique jewelry using copper, silver, and brass with a variety of wires for fiber stitching and weaving techniques. Patinas, wire techniques, and design approaches to a wide range of jewelry will be covered. Earrings, bracelets, pins, and necklaces can all be made. Cold connections, low-tech metal techniques, alternative surface applications, and endless embellishing techniques will be given. Each student will take away many pieces and a brain full of many more!
Mary Hettmansperger (Peru, Indiana) is a fiber and jewelry artist who has been teaching across the U.S. and abroad for thirty years. SOFA, Bead & Button Show, national and regional fiber conferences, basketry and beading conferences, art and craft schools, private guilds, galleries, and art shows are some of the venues to which she lends her instruction and art work. Mary has authored and illustrated four books and has also done several instructional DVD's-published by Interweave. Her art work and designs have been published in numerous books and magazines and she does segments for the PBS programs "Beads, Baubles and Jewels" and "QuiltingArt". www.maryhetts.com

generation to generation; yard to yard

scattering flower seeds
This weekend, I got to spend time playing in the dirt with two of my grandbabes.  Cleome and Bee Balm seeds were sprinkled among the transplanted iris rhizomes ("looks like a carrot") and Surprise Lily bulbs were covered with carefully crumbled dirt. These treasures came from (great) G'ma's yard in Missouri.
