Inspired by a FaceBook share, these aprons were made from repurposed shirts.  My son and granddaughter love cooking together, so I designed the aprons to be complementary but unique. 

The sleeves of the seersucker shirt became pockets on the denim shirt/apron.  Denim (repurposed blue jeans), added to the shirt hems, provides extended coverage.  The iPod pouches are blue jeans pockets.

Families  grow and change.

A gift to honor my mother, FOREVER hangs in the newly renovated community center of Lenior Woods Senior Community.  LA FAMILIA was reimagined, redesigned and remade to become FOREVER.

My mother is one of three daughters in a family of five.  I am one of three daughters in a family of five.  My son has a family of five.

FOREVER, five individual and unique forms, reference, overlap, surround and snug with each other, like a family.

In the middle of the last century, my grandmother began a family tradition when she made her grandchildren felt Christmas stockings to hang on her mantle.  Our house didn’t have a fireplace, but not to worry, Santa would come down the chimney at Grandmother’s house filling stockings and leaving treasures under the tree.  (He would also stop by Christmas afternoon for a cup of hot chocolate and bring a package or two he’d “forgotten” the night before, but that is another story.)

Felt reindeer, Santas, angels, wreathes and sleighs bejeweled with beads, gum ball machine charms, jingle bells made each stocking unique.
